Beta Progress - Take Two
This is the SECOND attempt at a Beta Progress updates forum thread.
Why? Well, because this is our second attempt at a push towards getting Paradox! The Musical to Beta, and I decided we needed a new thread.
Updates will be posted here as and when anything of significance and/or interest occurs related to the impending Beta release of the game.
Stay tuned!

Re: Beta Progress - Take Two
I've just gone through and finished creating a list of the things that I think we need to do to get the game to beta. It's quite a long list, and it's just high-level at this stage, but that's OK because we have several people to work on different bits of the list, and they're all really committed and dedicated and stuff. This is good.
This weekend, we're going to get the team together and go through that list, fleshing it out and trying to put it into some sort of order so that Grokly can make some sort of a project plan, from which he can start to allocate tasks to people and then we can actually start to see things happening.
Yes, it will take a little while, but it's going to be completely worth us spending this time planning, rather than just diving in and doing random stuff. We've done that before, and look where it got us.
In the meantime, you've probably already seen signs of action around the place, in terms of Devs in chat, posts in the forum (like this one) and bits and pieces on Twitter (Yes, we're on there - follow us for random spoutings of stuff that's too brief to make it into a forum post), and there's a lot more to come.

Re: Beta Progress - Take Two
UPDATE TIME
The Dev Team got together on the weekend (via Skype of course) and went through the project plan. It's big and scary-looking, but not unmanageable, and thanks to Grokly we've now got it broken down into what looks like reasonable chunks of work for all of us.
Right now, I'm working through all the code with the intention of updating the production system to bring all the code back into line with what I've got in the dev environment, without actually introducing any bugs or half-finished content. It's a huge task and fairly crappy to be honest, but it does mean that we'll be able to start bringing in bits and pieces of new things again as they're ready, rather than being stuck not really being able to implement anything new because of the gaps in the code base. In the next week or so, I expect that I'm going to have to take the game offline for a few hours while I update the server and then test everything to make sure it works properly, and then... well, I'll let you all back in to find everything I missed. There probably will be bugs, which I'll fix as soon as I can, but I'll do what I can to avoid anything major and then we can start moving forward again.
In the meantime, ElljaeT and Blaize are working on a few new bits of content, which I won't spoil here, but which include a couple of zones, some items and some other stuff, which we hope to be able to release in the not-too-distant future.
Grokly is continuing to refine the rest of the plan so that, once I'm done with the code, we can move on to the next bits.
That's it for now. I'll update you again when there's more to tell.

Yeah, don't panic. It's slow going because it's a really big list and a huge amount of work, but things are definitely on the move. For reals

Not entirely bad timing, mate. What sort of something?Cowboy wrote:If there's anything I can help with I would be willing

I can do JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and a little bit of PHP, basically everything in the realm of development for this site. PHP knowledge would be my weakest suit.Gobberwart wrote:Not entirely bad timing, mate. What sort of something?Cowboy wrote:If there's anything I can help with I would be willing
