Frequently asked questions regarding the game's Beta development.

We'll update this any time we notice that a question is being asked frequently. If you have a question you'd like answered, and you think it might be something that will be frequently asked, go right ahead and ask it. We'll answer it if we can.

Q: When will Paradox! The Musical Beta be released?
A: Who knows? Maybe never. Nobody is currently actively working on it.

Q: What does "Beta" mean anyway?
A: Beta (pronounced "beeta" or "baytah" depending where you grew up) comes right after Alpha and means different things to different people. In our case, it means that we (the Developers) believe that sufficient features have been completed to provide a full game experience, and that we're confident that we could invite people into the game without having them scratch their heads and go "but... it's not finished/doesn't work/is crap/etc." Right now, during Alpha stage, that happens a lot and we expect it. If it happens in Beta, we'll be surprised. Except the bit about being crap, which might still happen a bit because, well, you need to be fairly highly-evolved to fully appreciate this game, and not everyone's as clever and attractive as you are.

Q: Yeah, but what does that mean? Specifically?
A: Specifically? Wow, that's specific. For us to achieve Beta, we need to implement Character Classes, Skills, Quests and (probably) Clans, we need to resolve all outstanding issues, and we need to clean up a bunch of stuff that's been sort-of-almost-finished for a while now. W could be more specific than that, but it would only bore you and you'd want me to stop. All we can say is that there will be enough of a game here, and everything will work properly, to the point where it won't *feel* unfinished and you won't be embarrassed to invite your friends along to check it out.

Q: So, it'll be finished then?
A: No, it won't be. It probably never will be, because that suggests that we think it's perfect and that nothing will be changed, and that's not the case. All we're saying is that it will be finished enough for a large number of people to play it without getting bored in five minutes.

Q: What will happen to my account(s)?
A: We realise that there's a distinct possibility that we might have to make some changes to existing player accounts before or when we go to Beta. While we can't say exactly what those changes will be, we can say that we are absolutely 100% committed to not doing anything to anyone's account if we don't absolutely have to do it. At this point, we can see absolutely no reason why anyone would lose any items, outfits, recipes, awards etc. but it's likely we will need to do something to achieve a somewhat level playing field in some areas, and that leaderboards will need to be archived and reset. We'll post more information when we have it.

Q: Your question here?
