Where you at, where you at??

Unread post by trogdorable » Thu Apr 01, 2010 3:52 pm

I've started a map for anyone and everyone to mark themselves on so we can get a general idea of where everyone's at. Please do not mark your exact address. Basic Internet Safety 101.

Added myself, and just to be sneaky I marked myself in a different room to the one I'm *ACTUALLY* in. Predators will never find me now!

Maybe I'm just completely inept (or NoScript is blocking it), but I can't figure out how to mark my location. Perhaps a quick "how-to" would be in order?

EDIT: I never realized Antarctica was so frickin' HUGE!!!

Fair enough. Click the "edit" button above where it says "Paradox: The Musical - Player Map", then towards the top of the map you will see a little button appear with the placemarker image. Click that and place the marker on your location. Then add your playername.

Got it. I needed to create a Google account to do it, but now I have the edit button.

EDIT: But--when I zoom in to get a more detailed view of where I live to mark, the left-hand sidebar with the Edit button goes away. They make this shit too complicated.

EDIT EDIT: Nevermind, I just need to double-click to zoom in instead of putting my location in the search bar.

when you zoom in where my marker is, is straight up shows you my front door...you can go all up and down my street and look at everything. thats messed UP.

Also, Antarctica isn't that big, and neither is Greenland. They appear that way on flat maps because of how close they are to the poles...as my eighth grade geography teacher would've said: "Maps that lie flat lie!"

Antarctica is bloody huge mate! Fifth biggest land mass on the planet, and that's nothing to sneeze at.

Jimmy, then move the marker so its not on your damned house. Easy. I put my marker in the middle of a lake in my city.

Perhaps I am being a bit brash here, but I have changed the map marker colors to reflect player rankings:

Black/Homer = Devs
Purple = Senior mods (none yet on the map except Trog, who's marker I did not change as it's a pretty horse!) :)
Red(pink) = mods
Green = players

As the originator of the map, Trog, if I've overstepped my bounds on this, please feel free to change it back.

I don't think it really matters what colors they are, and as the playerbase grows it may be more complicated to manage, but I'm not about to go changing it.

Umm... so who exactly is "Placemark 12"? Is that their actual in-game name?

Obviously not. Someone just didn't complete the process. If it wasn't you, I wouldn't worry about it.
