Question of the Week (April 17 -23) -- Childhood TV show

Unread post by JazzyCat » Sun Apr 17, 2011 9:10 pm

Here is this week's question of the week:

What was your favorite TV Show(s) when you were a kid?

When I was in 2nd grade, there were too many students to fit in the classrooms. We had double session and I was in the second class. That meant that my school day started at lunch time or so. I am not sure what time I got out of school but I do remember running home from the bus stop so I would not miss the Brady Bunch! I sure did love that show!!!!!!

In Arizona, there was also a local children's TV show called Wallace and Ladmo. I really enjoyed that one too.

One more that jumps out is Leave it to Beaver. I thought that Tony Dow (Wally) was so cute. I had no idea that the show was old, and I remember that I was thinking about writing to one of my teen magazines to do a feature story on him.

I know that as the week progresses I will think of more. Here is a starting point at least!

Cartoons: Transformers, G.I. Joe, He-Man, and some show where the four real-life kids got sucked into a cartoon; don't know what it's called.

Live action: Airwolf, Automan, Dukes of Hazard, The Stunt Guy, MacGuyver...

The list goes on. I grew up in the 80s so I had hundereds of kickass shows at my disposal.

Oh yeah, Dukes of Hazzard! When I was in second or third grade, my friend and I used to play Dukes of Hazzard ... you know, instead of cowboys and Indians. I do not remember what we did, but I know my role was always one of the brothers. ;-)

me seconds this, all were my favorites as well, add in the Dungeons and Dragons cartoon, and wasn't The Stunt Guy actually called The Fall Guy, and can't forget The A-Team, the Muppet Show, Fraggle Rock, Greatest American hero, Wonder Woman, Batman, Superman, Spiderman and Friends, the list goes on and on, the 70s and 80s were great for television, much better than all this reality tv stuff on now, imho.

Ah, yes, Soda. It was The Fall Guy. And I also agree with every other show you mentioned. Except for Friends. I never watched that. Besides, I'm too old to consider Friends a "childhood" show.

Nope, it was a cartoon, called Spiderman and his Amazing Friends, with Iceman and Firestar, I personally did not like the show Friends.

Has to be Adam West as Batman. I remember sitting in front of the tv eating mayonnaise and potato chip sandwiches watching Batman and Robin beating up on villians. "BANG!" "POW!" "BOOM!" Animation had to be "The Flintstones" when it was an adult cartoon.

No, I totally thought he meant the latter! My side hurts from laughing. I thought it was a little odd to mention a 90s sitcom with 80s cartoons, but I guessed he just really liked it.

Woo-hoo!
+1 for G.I. Joe and Transformers and the Dungeons&Dragons cartoon and DuckTales!

I also liked Thundercats!

When I was younger, The Smurfs was my favorite Saturday morning cartoon.

Oh yeah, I loved Silver Spoons too! I actually just loved TV. Some shows I remember watching but I cannot remember what age I was.

I know that I was in high school when Mr. Snuffleupagus became "real". I ran home from the bus-stop to watch it. It was so exciting to me for some reason even though I did not still watch Sesame Street.

I see a trend of running home from bus-stops here! Back then we did not have any sort of recording device, so if we missed it, it was gone.
David and baby two are not going to understand that one!

Wooster and Jeeves, Get Smart, The Land Before Time, The Simpsons, South Park, and much more (those are just the most memorable)

Yeah, I probably have the most messed up list :P

for some reason, I just remembered the Awesome that was Dinosaurs http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zM9XcXN9g-k. Which in return reminded me of The Lost World. God I love dinos. :)

I'd have linked Lost World too, but it isn't complete on youtube, and if anyone wanted to see it, I'm sure they could find it easily enough. :P

As a little kid I watched tons of Hey Arnold, Doug, Rocko's Modern Life and Ren & Stimpy.

As a teenager I was watching King of the Hill, South Park, Malcolm in the Middle, Arrested Development, Family Guy, Futurama and the Simpsons. I was incredibly into Prison Break too, I'd say that it has to be my favorite show of all time because I was obsessed with it.

Nowadays I watch mostly King of the Hill reruns, Breaking Bad and most of the non-anime stuff Adult Swim has on, such as Superjail and Moral Orel(one of the best underrated shows I've ever seen)

I've always loved TV and even as an adult I seem to like most cartoons over live action shows, mainly because there are very few TV actors who can actually act. Also 99% of shows are so formulaic and predictable that if you've seen them a couple of times, you can easily predict what's going to happen in episodes you haven't seen.

I love the SImpsons now, but could not stand watching it when it first aired.

Right now I do not have TV reception, so I rely on NetFlix which does limit what I watch. I have recently discovered Arrested Development and Breaking Bad there.

Gotta add The Man From U.N.C.L.E. in there too, as well as many other shows like Dragnet :)

Oh yeah me too man, they're also not going to be eligible for the next Emmys because of how late they're starting, even though I'm almost sure Bryan Cranston could have easily pulled a 4-peat

I used to watch a lot of cartoons, but I don't remember many of them. The one that stood out the most was Gargoyles.
If anime counts, there was Pokemon and Dragon Ball Z.
I didn't really like watching shows that weren't animated, and that actually still kind of holds true to this day. o A o Not particularly sure why.

I'd say that this thread has made me realize how young I am, but that's not entirely accurate, since I noticed quite a while ago. However, it certainly has made that fact more apparent... xD;;
