Cake Appreciation Society

Unread post by Deo » Sat Apr 19, 2008 11:29 am

I am a connoisseur of fine cakes.

Some of mine are (and you may find a pattern):
Chocolate - Almond cake, chocolate ganache and mocha buttercream
Chocolate devil’s food cake, chocolate ganache and praline buttercream Chocolate devil’s food cake and vanilla buttercream
Banoffi Pie with a crunchy ginger base.

What would you say your favourite cake is??

I own the original recipe for Waldorf Astoria's famed "Red Velvet" cake. It's damned fine. I think I might like pies better, though.

My favorite cakes are German Chocolate and Pineapple upside down. They both bring back happy memories. :-)

I am a MASSIVE fan of pretty much every cake I have ever encountered. The only limit is I wont touch anything that has marzipan involved. For the ultra indulgent I would always recommend a good Mars Bar cake / ganache but for everyday eating you just can't go past a good cheesecake baked or otherwise.

Now I can't think of anything other than cake. mmmmmm sweet cake.

At the moment my favorit recipe is raspberry buttermilk cake. Oh the moist, soft, white deliciousness... and the delicious, red, juicy raspberries.... *drools*

I'm really not a massive cake fan, but I always enjoy a cheesecake, I'm partial to a black forest jobbie and who could forget the classic Australian pavlova (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pavlova_%28food%29) which I suppose is technically not a cake, but it looks like one.

Homemade chocolate chocolate-chip bundt cake with a thin drizzle of vanilla frosting (also homemade).

I love making my family beg me for it

White-chocolate cake with white chocolate sauce and white chocolate drops. Well, except the cake IS a lie, so...

Interesting factette about pavlovas: Did you know, they're named after Russian ballet dancer Anna Pavlova, and not, as would have been much more entertaining, after the dude with the slobbering dogs.

I doubt a Russian dessert would be named after 'One Man and his Dog', but yes, that is true. And Baked Alaska looks like the Alaskan Sunrise, only without the insane pro-lifer governing it.

Insane AND HOT pro-lifer.
Er...crap, now I've gotta think of something to say about cake. Hm...I still say cheesecake rules all.
And Gobb, anyone who would actually name a kind of dessert after Pavlov has more serious issues than I do. I mean, do you realize how freakin' tasty the cake would have to really be in order to envoke the Pavlovian response on a consistent enough scale? I don't think any cake could pull that off.

Wolf you have obviously never had Pavlova otherwise you would know that the very mention of said tasty treat is enough to illicit a drooling response.

No cheesecake?!?!?! My god man, what kind of depraved life have you had?!?! Go have it now, unless you have some kind of allergy to dairy, then don't.

As for Palin by the twelfth time or so that Wolf spammed us with a link to her pictures, i could sort of see it.

Agreed, I love cheesecake as well. But I am a big guy and will eat just about any sweet thang.

Also, I thinkg Gov. Palin is quite attractive at her age, having as many kids as she has, and for being a politician. Face it how many weapon in politics are as a attractive as Palin=Not many lol

See that? Sarah Palin's fine ass revived this thread.=op And Jimmy, I don't wanna picture you doing things with her that involve cake. I'd much rather it be ME who's doing those things with her.

so what kind of cake goes best with Palin, is the new question?

It would have to involve lots of mousse.
