Hey everyone,

Our community of players is a great group of people, friendly and always willing to help. Over time, it's become a common practice to welcome new players entering /lobby for the first time to the channel and then refer them directly afterwards to another channel, generally /social. This has been understandable since our player base is relatively small and no one wants to leave anyone out of the fun.

However, now that we're getting new players from all over the internets, I and the other Paradox staff members would like to ask that you to please refrain from immediately ushering new players to another channel and away from /lobby. Please treat /lobby as a newbie/general question channel and let players get familiar with the game. If /lobby had a spiffy motto, it would probably go like this: Meet new players. Ask Questions. Expand your horizons. These are things even experienced players can take advantage of, so let the new people get used to them as well. If someone asks about other channels or they feel ready about moving on to another channel, you can of course still refer them to the wiki link at the top of the chat pane.

To be automatically announced when one joins /lobby? I'd suggest that.

It would be nice if each channel had a little introduction to it every time someone logged onto it. A short explanation of what each channel is for, a link to the wiki chat rules and the owner mod that runs the channel.

Yeah that's what I mean, in the same vain in how the blurb about the wiki is announced when you join the chat. But additionally to have a differentiated one for each channel.
