Paradox! Pressie Swap 2009

Unread post by ElljaeT » Sat Nov 28, 2009 1:46 pm

As part of the 2009 Paradox! Christmas Party, I am running the Paradox! Pressie Swap. This is an anonymous Secret Santa or Kris Kringle style present exchange.

For those of you who have never participated in a Secret Santa or Kris Kringle before, it works like this:

1.
You need to register your intent to participate by PMailling ElljaeT (#2). This is to be done no later than intermission on Saturday 5th December 2009.

2. The list of participants will be shuffled and you will be sent a PMail informing you of who you should buy a gift for. This person will hereby be referred to as your 'giftee'. At the same time your name will be forwarded on to someone else for them to buy a gift for you. Your giftee is to remain a secret at all times. This is an anonymous pressie swap. You should receive the name of your giftee by Monday 7th December 2009.

3. Once you have received your PMail identifying who you are buying for, you have to send your gift back to ElljaeT (#2) no later than Tuesday 15th December 2009.

4. Gifts will be distributed to giftees during the Paradox Christmas Party. For more information on the Paradox! 2009 Christmas Party see here

Some conditions:
a. I mentioned above that this is an anonymous pressie swap so don't tell your giftee that you are buying for them, particularly before the event. It spoils the surprise and takes the fun out of it.

b. If you don't submit a gift, the gift that was intended for you will be given to the person you were supposed to give one to and you will get nothing.

c. The point of the Paradox! Pressie Swap is to have fun and to give thoughtful and witty gifts to other players. It is not to see who can blow the biggest budget.

d. Make sure you submit your registration by PMail and only PMail. I will not accept registrations via pm, forum post or any other format.

e. I reserve the right to add any other conditions I may have omitted at any given time.

If you would like to drop some hints about things you might like your giftor to get for you then please use the Paradox! Pressie Swap 2009 Wishlist. see here This will also be a great place to look for gift ideas once you know who your giftee is.

Finally:
If you still have questions about how the Paradox! Pressie Swap 2009 works check out the FAQ thread see here If your question is not answered there, add a new post to the thread and I will get back to you as soon as possible.

Participants
I will be listing registered participants here. If you don't see your name on the list within 48 hours of submitting it, it is probable that I haven't received your registration.

As you can all see, the list for the pressie swap is growing and people are getting very excited.

I just thought I would give this thread a gentle bump and let you all know that you have 4 more days to register.

I thought it might be a good idea to let you all know that registrations for the pressie swap close in a little over 8 and a half hours. So this is pretty much your last chance to register. On the plus side that also means that you will all be finding out who your giftee is within the next couple of days :-)

Ok, registrations have now closed and I have pmailed everyone with their giftee. Make sure you send your gifts to me by intermission on Tuesday, December 15th.

If you missed the registration deadline and still want to participate, send me a pmail. I make no guarantees that I will be able to find you a partner but if I have more than two late registrations I can probably help you out.

Happy shopping pressie swappers!

Thought it was time I put in another update post.

At this stage I have had no late registrations so it seems everybody that wanted in was in by the deadline YAY!!!

Given that gifts have to be in by intermission on the 15th I would say that it is getting too late now for anyone to register if they haven't already done so. So I'm calling late registrations closed.

Gifts are flooding my inbox left, right and centre which is very cool and I am enjoying the creativity and effort that some of you have put in.

Only a week to go now until the big party!

There's always one, isn't there? Or in this case... two.

Elljae gave everyone a week to register, and then added an extra few days for those who didn't read the initial post and you *still* managed to miss it? Sheesh! Good job gents! You've just given us a shining example of why people should read the forums regularly.

No sympathy from me.

Indeed. Mods were also heavily pimping the forum link in chat regularly during open registration.
