I was logged in, talking to Raptor and Sally when all of a sudden, the site stopped responding. Tried all my available web browsers and they all had connecting errors.

Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at www.paradoxthemusical.com.

Oops! Google Chrome could not connect to www.paradoxthemusical.com

Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage.


I double checked them all before submitting the error.

It just came back up, but everything is loading extremely slowly now.

and it died again. yay!

Same thing is happening to me. It just came back but its really laggy.

Yeah it was really laggy a couple hours ago when I tried and I noticed the lack of any updates on the front page as well as when you click the "More..." link it's just a blank page. I'm guessing there's some sort of maintenance going on. I'm sure all will be sorted shortly. As of right now I see 0 people are online and I'm guessing it's due to the same error I keep getting when trying to log in.

yep, thats what I'm getting as well.

Although the site is up and running, it looks like the SQL server has gone down. That explains the inability to log in and the absence of the announcements.

Gobberwart was sent a text message at around 1pm CDT, which was almost 90 minutes ago. Given the fact that it is now 5:20am in Melbourne, I'd venture to guess that it's going to be another 90 minutes or so before he sees the situation. Sit tight.

The Updates not displaying and inability to log in is kinda new, it wasn't doing that before, but yeah, throw more on the fire. lol.

It's fixed. Server got rebooted by the hosting provider, but the database server failed to come back up properly. This is the second time in three days this has happened, and I'm trying to find out from them now what caused it and how to prevent it.

1. We will NEVER do "some sort of maintenance" without telling you.
2. If we were doing maintenance, you'd see the maintenance screen. This was a database service failure.

This is hosting provider jiggery pokery at its finest, but unfortunately moving to a better host (ie. dedicated server) is prohibitively expensive right now. As soon as we can afford it, we'll move. In the meantime, thanks everyone for your patience.

Within a few minutes of the server coming back up, the load started again. I have to put the game into maintenance mode for a little while to test a few things. Will be back asap.

Even though load is still an ongoing issue, I've brought the game back online. It will be slow until the load is sorted out, but there's nothing more that I can do about it. I've got an urgent support ticket logged to HostV and all we can do is hope they get on it asap.

Yeah, I meant some sort of hostv maintenance that was fucking part of the game. Sorry I didn't clarify. I have no idea how their stuff works. Clearly I was wrong and it wasn't maintenance on their end, just failure.

Heh, guess what? Response from HostV: "We had stopped all the vps in the main node as part of some quick maintenance work and currently the server load is back to normal.Kindly check back and do feel free to update us for further help."

So yeah, it was some "maintenance" on their end which, in turn, caused failure that I had to fix.

Just rest assured that WE won't do any maintenance without telling you. We're not that amateur
