I definitely like the idea of getting banned if your jokes aren't funny. Of course, that means Sporty Spice over there wouldn't even be allowed to /listen to the channel...but I can live with that.

I like that idea too. But only banned from the channel, and for like 30 minutes. Over that is just a little mean.

If Gobb would be willing to implement some sort of channel-specific banning, then, as a joke, any player should be allowed to ban anyone from /jokes, if only for a minute or so. Yes, people would abuse it, but it would be funny, and that would be the point, but it would (hopefully) get old fast, so it wouldn't be too consistent...

I think it should be 5-15 minutes. 30 is actually harsh but 1 is too little. Also, the way it would be classified as funny or not would have to be public opinion. An unfunny mod or a mod in a bad mood could cause problems. So I think if no ones laughs in the chat, then they should be banned. Unless there is no one in the chat except that person.

Ok, I'll explain why then, since I know you're going to ask...

1. Paradox chat isn't IRC and doesn't exist to provide specialist chat for every niche in existence
2. If I add a channel every time someone wants a particular niche addressed... well, see #1

With the exception of a public chat channel for grown-ups (ie. people who don't get offended by occasional dick jokes), I think Paradox pretty much has all bases covered for now. The only reason there's not yet a public grown-up chat channel is because a) it's impossible to police and b) one person's idea of "grown-up" chat is very different to another's so, because of a), I've decided it's not worth the hassle.
