Do I now have your attention? Okay guys here we go contest time and I am going to utilize this to help me...and you.
Over the last few years I have lost TONS of music files through moves and computer crashes resulting in reformat SO here is how the contest will go. You send me music files. If I do not have the music file you send me you gain 1 point (double those points if it is a song that was released from 1980-1989) The rules are simple....
Rules and Regs. Read Carefully
0). Send only mp3 files and that they are named as they are supposed to be which would be like this "Artist - Song Title". If you send any non-mp3 files NO points will be awarded for that group of songs sent with the alternate format.
1). Do not send Country or Rap music (Unless it is 80s rap) Doing so will result in -1 point for each song of this genre received.
2). Try to keep it main stream OR really good underground stuff.
3). Every 1980-1989 song received will be worth 2 points (To make sure you get your points for this make sure the year is in the title of the file AND in (parentheses)
4). DJs feel free to apply but be advised you points will be divided by 5 when the points are tallied. I want to get the non DJs a fighting chance here! I am hoping you think this is fair and are good willed enough to join in anyway and help a fellow DJ, its all in good spirits right? ;p
5) Deeliteful is banned from this contest as I can easily just violate her files while she is sleeping.

Fair enough I suppose, despite me having just become a DJ and not really having DJed yet, I'll abide by these ground rules, let the games begin, MUWAHAHAHAHA.
Re: Radio Contest No need to listen to play BIG PRIZES!
How are we defining "country"? Example: Taylor Swift is often considered a country artist, but at the same time, she's also considered a pop Top 40 artist.
Guidance?

Noted and thank you for the clarification. Though me makes me sad requiring it being "Artist-Title". All my mp3s are "Title-Artist".

Oo! Oo! I have one more question and one request.
1. If Person A and Person B send you the same song that you don't have, who gets the point? The person who sent it first, or both of them?
2. Would it be possible for you to post a list of the songs you've already received so that folks don't end up wasting their time and your time sending you tunes you have already gotten via this contest?

Re: Radio Contest No need to listen to play BIG PRIZES!
I'll try to do more before the end of this thing. If I don't get around to it, Ill just send them after the contest, doesn't really matter to me.
Re: Radio Contest No need to listen to play BIG PRIZES!
I stopped caring after the not so subtle insult to country music.
Re: Radio Contest No need to listen to play BIG PRIZES!
I do not mean any disrespect to country I do like a FEW country songs. It is just not my cup of tea! :p

Surely all that sucking can't be all bad?
The cretin is well aquainted with 80's underground, it's don't-go-there lyrics, it's everyone get on the stage attitude and gigs imploding or being shut down by the authorities. Some of my favourite songs from the 80's dallied in the joys of necropheilia and my favourite song-line of all time comes from the Canadian band The Forgotten Rebels. Their song Surfin' on Heroin, includes the majestic image:
Got my kid brother hooked yesterday/ Pimping him pays for my habit today.
The Montreal band, Deja Voovdoo were not so lyric-freaky. Their live shows had a spirit of fun (and drinking!) The guitarist kept breaking his two little strings, so he just stopped attaching them and the drummer beat his instument so hard, he had to make his drumskins out of duct tape. Mainstream wouldn't touch them, but those two guys could ROCK THE ROOM! Ya! Man! Don't even try denying it. They could turn a barbecue into a story to tell your kids about.

Re: Radio Contest No need to listen to play BIG PRIZES!
Wow, I am highly surprised at the LACK of participation in this contest. Especially when I am giving out all the above listed goodies. If you all don't understand in why I am doing this I will explain....
There is ALOT of work being done on beta RIGHT NOW. So much work it is taking up EVERY second of my spare time. NOW, I need to replace my music i have lost. If you guys do not do it for me then I will have to STOP working on beta to replace the music myself.
I mean really look at the contest leader posting above only one contestant. Even if you send me ONE song right now you get something especially with only a few days left.
Let's up the ante, Which ever places are not filled the unclaimed prizes will be divided and delivered to those that did participate. To be honest this lack of participation has been VERY disappointing. I remember a time when the community of paradox participated more in events. What has happened here!

Re: Radio Contest No need to listen to play BIG PRIZES!
Some life just needs to be breathed back into the game. As it has needed to be for a while now but I have hopes that it'll eventually go back on the upswing. For me personally, I still carry my fondest memories of the game back in pre-launch. I'm still trying to chase those. That being said, one (possibly decent) reason I haven't been very helpful with this is I don't store music files. If I'm listening to music on my computer it's pretty much just internet radio. So any sending I'd do I'd have to invest time in locating and downloading when I'm sure there are tons of people out there that just have them.

Game stopped being active around when Gobb vanished (and other dev things), then Tooth and Misty vanished, and well, activity has just been on the decline since. It will increase when you get this infamous "Beta" we all have been expecting to come out any month now for the last 3.5 years finally launched.

Wait for it......waaaaaait for it.
Ragazi:
I spent most of my holiday weekend preparing files for you. I currently have 6.82 gigabytes of music for you. I've been informed that I cannot send 6.82GB of music through email. Who knew. Apparently not me. I've been informed that I burn these onto 2 DVDs and send them to you. My gmail address is aramada @ gmail.com, if you would like to send me a mailing address I can send them to. I presume if it is postmarked by May 31st that counts?

as the current leader, I'm ok with that if he is. and the rules don't say anything about email only, so I don't see why he wouldn't.
Re: Radio Contest No need to listen to play BIG PRIZES!
Music now on DVDs. Final count:
DVD one: 4.64 GB, 815 mp3s
DVD two: 3.93 GB, 758 mp3s
Total: 8.57 GB
Just need to know where to have the Post Office deliver it.

Re: Radio Contest No need to listen to play BIG PRIZES!
All I can tell you, cause I didn't write down every little detail was that I did NOT use 315 files due to duplication. So you definitely the winner. Results are being posted now. Prizes will be adjust accordingly and be sent within the next few days.
