Tool-Of-The-Week

Unread post by DrWolf » Mon Aug 10, 2009 8:35 am

Let's face it: We all say stupid stuff from time to time. However, some people say some really stupid stuff. And this is the stuff that this contest is made of.
If you spot someone saying something dumb/silly/stupid in chat, send it to BigBrother(PID #1984) in a PMail (after obtaining the person's permission, of course...some people don't like being made fun of...go figure). Winners will be announced on my radio show on Radio Free Xangaka on Sunday at 6pm Central time.
For example:

DrWolf: I wonder if it's going to rain today.
Gobberwart: It's already raining IN MY PANTS.

(me thinking to myself) Hm...that's really stupid. I should totally enter that into the contest!

Private to Gobberwart: Hey man, mind if I enter that into the contest?
Gobberwart(Private): Go for it.
Private to Gobberwart: Werd. Oh, and your mom was amazing last night.

Then I'd copy and paste the 'important' bits into a PMail to BigBrother, and hit send...and on Sunday evening at 6pm Central time, tune in to the Dr. O'Raptor show on Radio Free Xangaka to hear if I won.

Just a few more points for clarification:
When sending the submissions to BigBrother, only send the parts that need to be read on-air. I won't read any full chat transcripts, and try to filter out what I think you're trying to get at.
I would like to do this on a weekly basis, but since something always seems to come up at the most inopportune time, I make no promises. If I miss a week, I'll either make arrangements with someone else to fill in for me, or just catch it up the next week.
You cannot nominate yourself. Anyone who nominates themselves will almost definitely be publicly ridiculed on my show, but will receive no award.
If you ask someone's permission to submit something they've said, and they say no...don't do it. In fact, you should include with your entries evidence of their approval.
The person who said the stupid thing will receive an award...but we're also looking at potentially giving out a tool-spotting award for the person who, well, spotted that tool.

(copied and slightly modified from BigBrother's profile)
So what exactly are the criteria? Anything goes. Toolish behaviour may be:

- Dumb questions
- Dumb answers
- Lame jokes
- Genuine stupidity
- Artificial stupidy

All we ask is that you don't nominate people who are clearly asking for it (and those saying "Wow, here's something toolish, please nominate me for the award" are probably asking for it) or those who would genuinely take offence at being called a tool.

Oh yeah, and you can't nominate yourself. Tool!

Go at it!

The winner of the first Tool Of The Week award was barenakedchicken (submitted by MsFeisty).
As has been said before, I'd like to keep this contest going...so keep sending those PMails to BigBrother for your chance to win.=o)

Mayhaps you could post the, uh... "winner's" chat transcript so we all can see just how much of a tool they are?

23:21:26 barenakedchicken: my shorts are too tight!
23:22:08 Misty: and shorts are never to tight
23:22:41 barenakedchicken: well, I'm a guy, and I don't wear shorts ...soooo
23:23:26 MsFeisty: So you're talking about shorts that don't exist?
23:23:41 Misty: so why complain about tight shorts?
23:23:48 Gobberwart: too-tight shorts that you don't "wear"?
23:24:14 barenakedchicken: I barely even pay attention, so I am randomly putting stuff in the chat so it stays up
23:24:41 Gobberwart: ah, that's "how to win friends and influence people rule number DOUCHE"
23:25:12 Gobberwart: why have chat open if you're not paying attention?
23:25:29 MsFeisty: try this: /w
23:25:50 Misty: oohhh burn...
23:25:50 Gobberwart: or try participation
23:26:36 MsFeisty: Non sequiteurs could be considered spamming the chat... If one were inclined to be uncharitable...
23:26:44 barenakedchicken: it makes me feel wanted

00:32:15 MsFeisty: Can I enter you in the contest, bnc?
00:33:13 barenakedchicken: sure, but i get half
00:33:44 MsFeisty: You only get half if you win.
00:34:36 barenakedchicken: okay I get half if I win

There's that...but there haven't been any entries in awhile, so I figured you guys just weren't interested...*shrug*
Also, BigBrother's PID has changed...I edited the first post to reflect that.
