Code Update - Get Ready

I'm currently preparing to perform a massive code update in the game which, I'm really hoping, won't significantly affect anything for the majority of players, but which will enable us to start implementing the new content we need to move towards beta. This change involves around 50,000 lines of code (give or take) and makes several fundamental changes to how things work in the background. It will make things faster and more efficient (wow), but importantly it gives us the ability to do lots of very cool new things, like adding character classes, skills, new quests, locations, items and all sorts of stuff.

In the short term, you won't see much different. Some of the maps are a bit different, there are a couple of minor quest changes, a new effect or two and so on, but that's about it. But in the next few weeks... well, there's LOTS that's waiting on this, so it needs to be done asap.

Soon (not exactly sure when yet), you'll see an announcement to say the game is going offline for a few hours for me to make the changes I need, so stay tuned.

I've decided there's really no point putting this off any longer. I've done a heap of planning, taken plenty of precautions, got backups of everything and frankly, I'm just procrastinating now. The game will be going offline for an upgrade in just a few minutes, which will take anything from half an hour to a few hours, depending on how successful it is.

Aaaand we're back. That took a LOT less time than I expected, and to be honest it's a bit of an anticlimax. The game seems to be just fine, and I was all ready for problems. Everyone go see what you can break, because I need to do something with all this tension.
