It is with a heavy heart that I share with you all the news that our fellow Paracite, friend and beloved Radio Free Xangaka DJ, Toothless, passed away a few hours ago after succumbing to a rare and aggressive form of cancer.

Toothless has been a huge part of the Paradox community over the years, and his special character will be very sorely missed by many of us.

On behalf of the Paradox dev team and community, I would like to extend our deepest sympathies to his family.

Peace and Love, Cool Kid!

It's scary to think this can happen to any of us... I think of y'all as a family (of sorts :P) and I hope it never happens again.

RIP Toothless :(

Too many thoughts to put them all down right now and have them make any sense.

Toothless was a long-time compatriot in crime on the radio with me. We became friends outside of the game and, even though we lost touch during the last couple of years, I've stayed in contact with the family and will never forget him.

The Paradox and SSW communities were very fortunate to have such a talent spinning music for us. Wherever he is now, I'm sure he's treating others to The Grateful Dead.

I've known toothless for a good 7-8 years now, always a kind person spreading his wit to the masses. A toothless man with a mountain of teeth. A DJ with a dedicated following. A friend I will find myself missing the more I think of him. <3 toothy.

What can people tell me most of what they remember about Toothless? I am wanting to do a show dedicated to the memory of him, so one of the best ways I can do so, is to read comments from everyone about him, also, if anyone remembers his favorite type of music, let me know please.

So many things.....

1. Sets of "evil music". Especially Englebert Humperdink!
2. The Grateful Dead.
3. Rock and Roll artists born today.
4. The Daily Rant
5. Roger Glover's "Butterfly Ball"
6. Peace and Love

(More to come, no doubt. Contact me, Soda!)

I'm opening a thread separate of this one, so make a list there of the splats, I might have some of them myself already :)

Cross-posting from the Paradox facebook group (apologies to those who have to be subjected to my wall of text twice):

This is gonna be tough, but here goes...

I first recall meeting "Toof" when a small group of SSW players joined us in Paradox in 2008, bringing with them the awesomeness that is Radio Free Xangaka, and I worked together with him, Ratz and Grokly on joining our various DJs together into a semi-cohesive unit, and making RFX the "official unoffical" Paradox radio station. At the time, I remember being struck by his humour and easy-going nature, but also by his professionalism and commitment to the community - obviously something he loved very much.

For a great couple of years after Paradox and RFX came together, Toothless was a regular DJ on RFX, and his shows were always a highlight for me. As a DJ, he was able to be both informative and entertaining in a way that was incredibly special and unique. From a random fact, to a joke, to a structured contest, to a political rant or even a waffle about nothing, a Toothless show was always a great time.

As for his presence in Paradox chat... What can I say? There are people I like, and there are people I love, and there are people who give me a really special feeling when I see that message that says "PLAYERNAME has joined chat" on my screen. Toothless was one of those latter group, and I hate knowing that I'm never going to see "Toothless has joined chat" ever again. Realising that never again will we be told to have a happy and hippie time, or be offered peace and love, cool kids...

Dammit, I've got something my eye.
